March Color Challenge Block - Yellow

Certain colors are always associated with certain holidays or seasons.
For many of us, March signals the beginnings of Springtime!  *About time right*

Spring is one of my favorite times of year.

I love the heat and warmth of sunny Spring days and look forward to them all winter long.  And what color represents that glorious sunshine and heat?  Yellow of course!  :D

Yellow is the color for the March Monthly Color Challenge.
If you haven't seen the January & February Challenges, then hop on over to Patterns by Jen and check out the last two blog hops AND link-ups!!  There are some great Red and Blue quilt blocks (not to mention some fun new/free patterns).

I am sticking with the 6" blocks designed by Jen for the hop and at the end of the year I will put them all together to see what happens.  :)

I did have a bit of trouble finding just the right yellows and ended up cutting into some of my fat quarters that I had hoarded away.

I love rows of flying geese and this block had me excited right from the beginning.  Although, my Square In a Square could use some tweaking, I think it still turned out pretty good.

ooops.  Points are off a little more than a bit.  Not ripping stitches on this little block though.

Make sure you check out what the other Blogs have to share for the month of March!

And....
If you link up with Patterns By Jen towards the end of the month with YOUR Yellow March block you will have a chance to win one of three 6-month subscriptions to Make Modern Magazine!!!
How awesome is that??!?!

You can make the block pattern that Jen shares on her blog or a yellow-toned block of your choice.  Many of the other bloggers share their own patterns as well.  Just don't forget to link up March 24th - March 31st!

Happy Quilting!!

  1. What a lovely block Jen. Yellow is such a happy colour, it reminds me of spring and sunshine, but I rarely use it for quilts, I wonder why that is. I cracked square in a square blocks last year after making dozens and dozens of them. Bloc Loc have a free cutting chart, they end up slightly big to allow for trimming and you don't need one of their rulers to make the blocks either. Give it a go, you will never make them any other way again.

  2. Yellow! My favorite spring inspired color. I love geese and frankly, unless you paper piece or are totally fanatic...points don't line up or inevitably get cut off. Just my opinion! I love your sunny yellow block and it makes me long for Spring even more!

  3. Love your block and the fabrics, especially the yellow circles on circles. This block looks too happy go lucky to get hung up over matching points. Simply lovely and very Spring!
