CMM January - Star of Bethlehem

It is no wonder I am a bit off on my scheduling of my blog posts and link-ups!  I have decided to do two year-long quilting adventures.

1.  The Classic Meets Modern (CMM) quilt a long block of the month with My Quilt Infatuation.
2. The Monthly Color Challenge (MCC) with Patterns by Jen.

Do you see the similar acronyms (thanks for the correction Yvonne, my tired brain couldn't find the right word)?  I am entering a disclaimer here for any future misspellings or mislabels of these two projects.  :D

Last weekend I worked on the first block for the CMM Quilt A Long.  It took me forever to decide on my fabric choices for this.  I knew right away (even before she announced the QAL) that I was going to make this quilt. But, I had ZERO idea what colors I wanted to make it in.  The solids were so striking, but I am on a quest to use my stash this year, so solids were out.  I considered doing each block scrappy, but I didn't feel that was the right direction for me either.

Then....
One day I was rearranging my bedroom and pulled out a tote I had been using as a foot rest under my desk.  It had my unpacked items from the retreat I went to last July....ooops.  :D
And guess what?!?!  I had completely forgotten that I had found this absolutely stunning fabric at a shop on my way to the retreat.  And guess what?  I bought enough yardage for 4 of the 5 colors needed.  I had one more from my stash and the decision was made.

I have the first block done for the QAL and plan on doing the second sometime this week.  I can't get behind in the first month right!  :D

This is going to be so much fun!
Happy Quilting and have a great week everyone!

  2. It looks great! And oh man, those acronyms are similar. I would have to triple check every time I wanted to write about either one. :)
