Fabric Storage

This weekend I didn't get much actual sewing done (besides the binding on a quilt, but I'll share that finish in another post).
But, what I did get done I am very excited about.
I finally put together my new IKEA Kallax shelf!  Wheels and all.
It is so pretty and I spent the rest of the day re-sorting and pressing my fabric so it would look all nice on my new shelf.  I am semi-tempted to get some boards for my fabric, but we'll see how it works without for now.

Don't mind the dirty carpet.  But look!  Wheels!!  :D

The next step is to get over to the hardware/lumber store and get a board for the ironing top.
I have not decided yet if I want to bracket the board on top so it will be a permanent fixture or to have slats on the bottom to make it snug, but removable.
What do you all think?

  1. First of all, what a beautifully displayed stash. Congratulations on putting it together and getting so organized. If it's removable, it would make it easier to change out the ironing pad surface if/when that becomes needed, so that would be my vote.

  3. It looks just like a store!! A worthwhile project you will continue to love for years to come. Mine are from Home Depot but very much the same thing-LOVE!

  4. My vote is removable! I've moved and rearranged my sewing set-up umpteen times in the past 3 years and I'm so glad that I made everything adjustable!

  6. Your fabric cabinet looks great, all organized and neatly folded! It will make a very neat pressing table. Can't wait to see it done and I'm sure you can't wait to use it.

  7. I'm jealous of all that pretty fabric stacked nice and neat on the shelves...I've forgotten what that looks like :) I would probably make it removable, just incase you need to store it for some reason. Yvonne makes a good point about changing our the cover too.
