Classic Meets Modern and Baby!

I finally finished my new niece's baby quilt.  Two days after she was born.  That is a win in my book.  Not like she needed it in the hospital anyway.
So, without further ado....

Please ignore that quilt pucker and focus on my cute niece!

She makes the quilt look so giant.  It really isn't that big.  Large crib size I would say.  Isn't she just the sweetest lil' punkin you have have seen?  *I may be biased*

On another note:
The Classic Meets Modern Block of the Month Quilt A Long with Kelly at My Quilt Infatuation  has begun!!!
I finally decided on my fabrics, although not which fabric will be which yet.  I'll probably do the solid black for the background, but the rest....who knows.   Here they are:

Progress and Growth

Heads up:  Semi-Non-Quilting post ahead., but kinda sorta quilting related......

It is a New Year and new years bring new things.
In 2018 I am going to focus on personal progress and growth.
There are a few areas I am going to focus on:

  • Sticking to my To-Do list
    • This means getting the projects I  have planned done on time and not stressing about them piling up.  I have multiple obligations I have committed to throughout the year, but I have left plenty of time for No Due Date projects as well.
  • Downsizing
    • My fabric stash is only a part of this goal.  I have far too much clutter in my life & house.  I am going to focus on purging the things that are not useful or do not bring joy to my life.  I will be getting rid of a lot of things that have been cluttering my life for far too long.  I will make a serious attempt to get rid of these things in ways that do not waste them, but if waste it must be, then it still has to go.
  • Intellectual Growth
    • I am a firm believer that if you should NEVER stop learning new things.  I want to keep my brain and my skill set active and growing always.
  • Physical Growth
    • This one has been a HUGE part of my life for the last 6 months and I don't ever plan on letting that fade.  I have changed my eating habits and added a fitness routine into my life.  I am such a better person because of it.
This last one is where my question to you all comes in.  For the most part, anyone reading this either sews or quilts with some regularity.  And that means sitting at a machine.  Sometimes ALL DAY.  I also sit at a desk for my full time job. Even with my new fancy-schmancy stand up/sit down convertible desk, I am still for a good part of the day.

This sitting for long periods of time is not good for our bodies.  And the tension that builds up in our backs and necks from being hunched over a machine can wreck havoc on us.  

I was considering starting a Facebook group for sewists/quilters/crafters that are also into some form of fitness or needing some advice and possibly motivation for it.  It might even include healthy eating tips or recipes.  How many of you would be interesting in joining something like that?
